Plan
Review Process:
Plans
are required for all new buildings and for changes to
existing buildings. The Fire Department reviews these
plans to help ensure that the applicable codes, ordinances
and standards are being followed, and to prevent
unnecessary hazards. The Barstow Fire Protection District
has a goal to turn around all plans submitted within ten
working days.
New plans may be submitted to the Fire District Fire
Prevention Office located at 861 Barstow Road, Barstow,
California 92311. When submitting plans to the Fire
Prevention Office, bring three complete sets of drawings,
plan check and permit fees are based on a fee schedule
established by local ordinances for the Barstow Fire District and
are payable when plans are picked up.
Remember, plans submitted directly to the Fire Prevention
Office include: underground fire mains; fire sprinklers;
fire alarms; engineered fire systems; high pile storage; and
hazardous materials. Other plan types to be submitted
include new construction and tenant improvement plans. The
Barstow Fire Protection District is not a department of the
City of Barstow and plans submitted to the city are not sent
to the Fire District. Plans submitted to the City of
Barstow Building Department are not automatically routed to
the Fire District for review. Also, the Fire District
serves areas outside the city limits of Barstow, check with
the San Bernardino County Building and Safety Office to
insure you submit your plans to the correct fire authority
for review. Please call in advance for fees.
It is always wise to review Fire Prevention Standards and
Forms prior to submitting your plans.
